| Jim Reisert : DX4WIN | DC as 51st State in Worked All States |
This application note applies to all DX4WIN versions.
When importing confirmations from Logbook of the World (LoTW) or eQSL, QSOs with stations in Washington, D.C. could be imported with State=DC. This can cause problems with the Worked All States (WAS) award in DX4WIN.
Washington, D.C. does not count as a US State for the Worked All States award. However, importing an ADIF QSO with State=DC may cause DC to be added to the list of states in DX4WIN. This means that your worked or confirmed totals may total 51 states, which is incorrect.
To fix this problem, you must identify all QSOs in DX4WIN with State=DC, and erase the State field for those QSOs. The easiest way to do this is to use an F8 search, putting only DC in the State field in the QSO window. For each QSO found, erase the State field, then use F10 to save the modified QSO.
After fixing all such QSOs, save your log and exit DX4WIN. When you restart DX4WIN, it should report only 50 states, not 51. If you make the changes, but do not restart DX4WIN, it will still say there are 51 states.
